Ultrasound training in remote areas with limited resources improves diagnostic and therapeutic quality.
We transmit theoretical and practical vascular ultrasound skills to local physicians. The goal is to implement this imaging modality into the daily clinical routine and application during ultrasound-guided procedures.
The challenge of surgical training to create vascular access
Talent, motivation, ingenuity, and passion can overcome a shortage of resources. Implementing vascular access creation for hemodialysis needs all of these virtues, from decision-making to arteriovenous sutures.
With experience in vascular ultrasound and surgical training during several missions to Khorog, Tajikistan, from 2017 to 2020, we have been invited to conduct a one-week vascular ultrasound workshop in Ifakara, Tanzania, in 2023.

Practising is vital during vascular ultrasound courses. Immediate application of theoretical knowledge can be trained on simulation flow models, specifically ultrasound-guided punctures.
Patients often offer themselves to be assessed during such hands-on sessions, feel comfortable and are often proud to contribute to acquiring knowledge.
